Introduction
HelloID offers a browser plugin that auto-fills web login fields. It is useful as a "catch-all" for logging into applications that don't support a single sign-on protocol.
When you have the plugin installed, and you launch an application, the plugin appears as a top menu bar:

Microsoft Edge
- In Microsoft Edge, select the top-right menu button, and then select Extensions.
- Turn on the option Allow extensions from other stores.
- Go to the HelloID Plugin page on the Google Chrome web store.
- Select the Add to Chrome button.
- When prompted, select the Add extension button.
Note: Chrome extensions can only be installed on the new Microsoft Edge , not on the legacy Microsoft Edge

Google Chrome
- Go to the HelloID Plugin page on the Google Chrome web store.
- Select the Add to Chrome button.
- When prompted, select the Add extension button.
Alternatively:
- Go to the downloads page of your HelloID portal by selecting the Downloads link in the page footer. Then select the Download button for the Chrome extension.
- When prompted, select the Add extension button.
Mozilla Firefox
- Go to the downloads page of your HelloID portal by selecting the Downloads link in the page footer. Then select the Download button for the Firefox extension.
- Once the browser plugin file has been downloaded (.xpi file extension), drag the browser plugin file onto a Firefox browser window to install it.
- When prompted, select the Add button.
Note: The plugin for Firefox Mobile is supported. Replicate the above steps on your mobile device. Plugin synchronization from desktop browser to mobile device is not currently supported by Firefox.
Chrome Group Policy Objects (Admins only)
HelloID administrators may also install the plugin through Active Directory Group Policy Objects (GPO).
- Install the GPO (ADM/ADMX) templates for Google Chrome.
- Open your group policy management console and navigate to Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates > Google Chrome > Extensions.
- Double click on the option Configure the list of force-installed extensions.
- Enable the setting and click the Show button.
- Add the following extension ID and update URL to the value and click the OK button.

- Close all open Chrome browsers and run gpupdate from an elevated command prompt to force an update and refresh the policy settings. The browser extension will be visible the next time you start Chrome.
- To check the policy in Chrome, navigate to
chrome://policy
using the address bar.
