The Task Details view in HelloID provides administrators with a wealth of information about the tasks that are run within their environment, such as when it was run, who ran it, what variables were available at runtime, and a log of exactly what occurred.
Navigate to Automation > Task History on the HelloID Administrator Dashboard to get started. Find a task whose details you wish to view, and click the Details link in the Actions column.
The Task Details view is separated into three tabs. Summary, Progress Log, and Input Variables. We will go over each one of them below.
The summary tab provides an overview of the task execution, and contains three major components.
You may retry a task, run a new instance of the task, edit the task, or return to the previous view.
- Status Summary
The status summary tells you when the task started, finished, and its total duration, as well as who started it and its current status.
- Summary Log
The summary log displays all summary information that is kicked out by the task itself. In this example, we can see that several hundred groups and several thousand users have been successfully synchronized from Active Directory.
The progress log displays detailed log information for the task. If you pulled this up while the task was in a running state, you would be able to see the log update in real time. Real time logging may be paused in the cases where you want to focus on a particular piece of the log.
The input variables tab shows you all of the variables that were available to a task at runtime, and what their resolved values were. This is useful for troubleshooting failed tasks where a variable did not yield the expected value in the task script. Learn more about variables here.
