Hello and welcome to this HelloID Service Automation product release video for May 2020.
HelloID Service Automation is an User Management Self Service solution designed to delegate user management into the organisation. For example Delegate group management, Delegate distribution group management, delegate share management. It will help ICT departments to Prevent accumulation of licenses and access rights.
In this video I first I’d like to start with a PowerPoint presentation and then demo you the new functionalities.
We have five new items in this May release. The biggest change is that, The product owner of a Service Automation product used to a single user, but now you can set it as a group. Now you can set as many resource owners on a Service Automation product as you like.
We also have added two API end-points, now you have the option to get the groups for the products, so you can get a list of all products that match a group, this is an alternative filter mechanism for filtering on, for example, categories.
The next API is the option to verify that a user can have the product. Both these extra API’s are helpful in combination with the release we did last month. In this release we released the option that a manager can request products for somebody else.
This is a small change, it’s to hover over. So, if you hover over what’s in a grid box and you have long items, you can now hover over it and see what the text is.
The last one is small as well, the DateTime is a quoted string so it’s easier to pass it in PowerShell. Okay, so let me demo these new functionalities to you.
Resource owner from a user group
The first item I’d like to show you is that we’ve changed the resource owner from a user a group. I go to products section and I choose a product, Adobe Illustrator, and you can see that the ‘Managed By’ used to be one person but now it’s a group, I can assign any group I like and by default all the users will be converted into the new created group and then the current product owner will be a member of that group. So initially only one user will be a member of that group. Of course we also changed the workflows, so now it’s not a person anymore but a group, and for the end user this used to be a person but now it’s a group, and you can also see that the ‘hover over’ function has been added.
Request product by API
Okay, now let’s move over to the API, and I also showed you this in the previous April release, you have this option here to ‘request product by API’. I can choose a user, for example Demo Manager, and now it’s interesting to have the API because now I can request only the products that can be used and visible for this user, so if I assign these products, I’m sure that they will be granted and there’s no security conflict when I try to assign this product to this user, so it’s helpful to have the API.
This is the end of this video. Thank you for your time and attention.
