Merge suggestions

Use the merge suggestions feature to have HelloID suggest persons to aggregate. These suggestions are automatically generated during Imports in which new persons are added, and are identified as potential duplicates. The suggestion algorithm is a character percentage match in a string (specifically, the Aggregation field.

To get started, Set up merge suggestions, and then Resolve merge suggestions as you receive them. Optionally, also set up Automatic merges to resolve certain merge suggestions automatically.

When an import occurs and new merge suggestions have been generated, you receive an Approve Or Reject The Selected Suggestion suggestion on the Suggestions tab:

Suggestion Matching Score

The percentage of characters in the Aggregation field which must match. All newly-imported persons with an equal or greater percentage of matching characters will be suggested.

Max Matching Persons

A threshold that limits the number of suggestions that will be generated for a single existing person.

You may need to experiment with the Aggregation string and the Suggestion Matching Score to find the settings that work best for your data.

To manually generate merge suggestions at any time (i.e., independent of an import), Redetermine all suggestions.

Note

All newly-imported persons for whom a suggestion is generated are marked as Skip Processing. This means they are excluded from enforcement until you approve or reject the suggestions (see Exclusions).

Persons suggested by the Redetermine all suggestions feature are not excluded in this way.

All approved and rejected suggestions are logged in the Audit logs.
