HelloID

Roles

2022-10-25_11-47-18.jpg

A role is something you assign to to Users and/or Groups, which contains one or more rights (i.e., permissions). Rights control what a user can see and do within HelloID.

To get started, Add a role and Configure rights for a role. Then, Link a role to a user or Link a role to a group.

Roles can have the following attributes:

System Role

A role included with HelloID. There are two: User and Administrator. The User role is initially set as a default role. Both are read-only.

Administrator

Read-Only

A role which cannot be deleted, and whose rights cannot be edited. Both system roles are read-only. You cannot manually assign or remove this attribute.

Default Role

When a role is set as a default role, all newly-created users in HelloID are automatically assigned to it. Controlled by the role's Default toggle. In new HelloID portals, the User role is a default role.

Enabled/Disabled

When a role is disabled, it retains its configuration but has no effect. It does not apply its rights to the associated users or groups. Controlled by the role's Enabled toggle.

Tip

If you need to modify the User or Administrator system roles, you will need to replace them with custom roles since they are Read-Only. To do so, add custom roles such as User - custom or Administrator - custom (see Add a role) and assign the desired rights. Then, enable the Default toggle for the custom roles and disable it for the system roles.

Important

Users and admins must log out and back into HelloID for changes in roles & rights to take effect.
