HelloID

You retrieve your organization's department data in the Departments import script.

Departments have a one-to-many relationship with contract objects. That is, each contract has only a single department field, but a department can be, and typically is, associated with many different contracts (across many different persons).

Additionally, HelloID uses your department data to internally build a hierarchy of Departments by recursively calculating parent departments based on department Managers. This department hierarchy is automatically generated during Snapshots. All that is required from you is to specify each department's ManagerExternalId in the Departments import script, and to Set the primary manager determinant. HelloID then uses this department hierarchy to automatically calculate each person's PrimaryManager field as needed.
